Whether it's due to having a patch test recently, having a patch test elsewhere, or simply "because I'm not allergic to anything", I hear this question A LOT!
"Do I need a patch test?"
The answer is... Absolutely!
Unless you have had a patch test with For Keeps Beauty within the last 6 months, then we strongly recommend a patch test before any of your beauty treatments can be carried out. Without a patch test, you're putting yourself at risk of having a serious allergic reaction.
If you've had a patch test with someone else or with another salon then we cannot guarantee that the products used are the same and therefore the risk of an allergic reaction is still just as high.
Patch tests are simple, quick and easy. In most cases, it is as simple as a small, pea sized amount of product being placed behind your ear, or in the crease of your arm. In some cases a scratch test may be required also.
A patch test needs to be completed at least 24 hours before any microblading and eyelash appointment, and at least 48 hours before any henna brow appointment. During this time, if there is any irritation, burning sensation, itching or redness, then wash the product off immediately. Unfortunately, an allergic reaction has occurred and we will be unable to carry out your chosen treatment. However, sometimes a different product can we used instead! For example, during your eyelash extension appointment, a sensitive glue may be used instead.
If no reaction has occurred then your microblading, henna brow or lash appointment can go ahead as normal.
If you attend your treatments regularly then a patch test isn't required every 6 months. However, if you have had a break from your treatments for longer than 6 months, then another patch test is required before your next beauty treatment.
